Biography

Rich Pickett Senior Director and Chief Information Officer (CIO) Rich is the Senior Director of Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) and  the Chief Information Officer for SDSU.  As the Senior Director of ETS he oversees a team of dedicated IT Directors and staff within Business & Financial Affairs who provide computing and telecommunications support across the campus. In the position of CIO, Rich collaborates with colleagues across the campus in support of Information Technology and represents SDSU. Prior to joining SDSU Rich was the Director of Administrative Systems at the University of San Diego where he managed academic and administrative applications. Before joining USD, Rich was an Executive Director at Oracle, responsible for the strategic development of technology solutions for higher education. Rich joined Oracle from Princeton University where he was the Director of Data Administration and co-director of an extensive campus technology renovation. Rich started his higher education career as a Computer Science Professor at Oregon Institute of Technology.   Rich has conducted research and published in several areas, including: neurosciences, analytical chemistry, population genetics, and sociology. Rich is also currently involved in neuroinformatics activities in support of autism research, developing and maintaining an extensive portal for researchers around the world.
